Effective date: June 1, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Narration Room website, macOS app, iOS app, and related services (“Narration Room,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing or using Narration Room, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
We may ask you to expressly accept the current Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy before using AI-assisted features. We may record the accepted Terms version, Privacy Policy version, acceptance time, app version, and build number locally on your device.
1. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Narration Room. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Narration Room is not directed to children. If you are under the age required to consent to data processing or enter contracts in your location, use Narration Room only with permission from a parent or guardian.
AI-assisted and text-to-speech features are intended for people age 18 and older. Before you use AI-assisted features, we may ask you to confirm the AI notice and may ask Apple to share an age range for the Apple Account on the device. If age eligibility cannot be confirmed, AI-assisted features may be unavailable.
2. App License and Apple Terms
If you obtain Narration Room through Apple, your use of the app is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms and the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a separate custom end-user license applies.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and Apple’s applicable terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by Apple.
Apple is not responsible for the Narration Room service itself except as required under applicable law. To the extent Apple’s required terms apply, Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the app license terms and may enforce them against you.
3. Local Projects and Local Content
Your projects, source material, prompts, scripts, generated audio, recordings, and transcripts are your responsibility and are stored locally on your device unless you export, share, sync, or send them elsewhere.
4. Your Content and Responsible Use
You are responsible for the source material, prompts, scripts, audio, recordings, speech, transcripts, transcript titles, speaker labels, exports, and other content you import, submit, record, transcribe, edit, generate, rename, sync, share, or distribute using Narration Room (“Your Content”).
You confirm that:
- you have the rights, permissions, or lawful basis needed to record, transcribe, store, sync, share, and use Your Content,
- Your Content and your use of the service do not violate law or the rights of any person or entity.
You retain your rights in Your Content. You grant us and our service providers the limited rights needed to operate Narration Room, provide requested features, maintain security, provide support, and comply with law.
You agree to use Narration Room responsibly. In particular, you agree not to:
- use the service in violation of applicable law or regulation,
- infringe or violate the rights of others,
- import, generate, export, or distribute content you do not have the right to use,
- record, transcribe, store, sync, share, or distribute conversations where you do not have the required rights or consents,
- create, publish, or distribute deceptive, harmful, unlawful, defamatory, or abusive content,
- impersonate others, clone a voice without permission, create fake reviews or testimonials, defame others, or mislead people about AI-generated content where disclosure is required,
- harass, threaten, surveil, deceive, or harm another person,
- interfere with, disrupt, reverse engineer, or bypass safety, security, access, or platform controls,
- use the service as the sole or primary basis for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, eligibility, or similarly high-impact decisions.
To support these rules, on-device AI features may apply local content-safety checks before generating output. When the optional enhanced on-device model is downloaded and active, Narration Room runs an additional on-device safety screen on text you ask the AI to process. That screen runs locally on your Mac and may decline to continue, ask you to confirm, or warn you about a request that appears to fall outside acceptable use. When the enhanced model is not active, Apple’s on-device AI applies its own built-in content safety filtering. The Privacy Policy describes these paths and, for the enhanced screen, what it logs locally.
5. Recording, Transcription, and Consent
Recording and transcription laws vary by location and context. Some places require consent from every participant before recording or transcribing a conversation. You are responsible for understanding and following the laws and rules that apply to your use, including obtaining any consents required before you record, transcribe, store, sync, share, or distribute a conversation.
6. Generated Output and Transcription Accuracy
Narration Room may produce scripts, audio, edits, transcripts, speaker labels, timestamps, titles, and other automated or assisted outputs based on your inputs. These outputs can be wrong, incomplete, delayed, misleading, or require additional editing or rights clearance before use.
You are responsible for reviewing outputs before you publish, share, distribute, rely on them, use them as records, or make decisions based on them.
Narration Room is not intended to create certified transcripts, official records, legal evidence, medical records, employment records, or other regulated records unless you independently verify the output and satisfy all applicable requirements for that use.
7. AI and Sensitive Uses
AI-assisted features are available only to people age 18 and older. You may not use, or allow another person to use, AI-assisted features if that person is under 18.
Narration Room may include templates or workflows for educational, business, creator, hospitality, tourism, or other general communication. These templates are intended to help organize and communicate material you already have authority to use. They are not intended to independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, calculate dosages, determine eligibility, assess risk, or make regulated or high-impact decisions.
If you use Narration Room with professional, regulated, sensitive, or high-stakes material, you are responsible for:
- ensuring the use is lawful for your role, jurisdiction, and audience,
- obtaining any required consents and permissions,
- providing qualified human review before use or distribution,
- ensuring outputs are accurate, appropriate, and not misleading.
8. No Professional Advice
Narration Room is a creation and productivity tool. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, regulatory, therapeutic, safety, or other professional advice. You are responsible for deciding whether any input or output is suitable for your intended use.
If you use Narration Room with health, wellness, medical, legal, financial, or similarly sensitive material, you must review all output carefully and consult a qualified professional where appropriate.
9. iCloud Sync and Private iCloud Saves
iCloud sync is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, transcript data is copied to your personal iCloud and may become available on your other Apple devices.
On Mac, Save to iCloud is an optional private iCloud feature for generated module audio. If you choose it and confirm the in-app notice, the app saves generated m4a audio plus project and module metadata to your personal iCloud so modules from the same Narration project stay grouped together. This feature is for your private iCloud storage only. It does not publish Your Content, share it with other people, create a QR code, create a public link, or make the Narration available on the public web.
You are responsible for your Apple Account, iCloud settings, iCloud storage limits, device settings, and any access you give to other people or devices. Apple operates iCloud under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Turning off iCloud sync stops future uploads from that device. Transcripts already copied to iCloud may remain in iCloud unless you delete them through the app or manage them through Apple’s iCloud controls.
Private iCloud Narration saves may remain in iCloud unless you remove them through app features that manage private iCloud saves or through Apple’s iCloud controls. If a save fails because iCloud is unavailable, restricted, offline, or out of storage, your local project and generated audio remain your responsibility on your device.
10. Sharing and Export
Narration Room may let you share or export scripts, audio, transcript text, and other content through system sharing features or other destinations you choose. Save to iCloud is separate from sharing and export: it saves to your private iCloud and does not by itself send Your Content to a public or third-party destination.
When you share or export Your Content, you are responsible for the destination, recipients, permissions, confidentiality, and any legal obligations that apply. Third-party apps, services, people, or organizations that receive Your Content handle it under their own terms and policies.
11. Models, Voices, and Downloads
Some features may need to download a model or voice before they can run — for example, the optional enhanced on-device AI model, local text-to-speech voices such as Kokoro and Supertonic 3, or, on the iOS app, a speaker model used by Speaker mode. Some included local voice assets may download automatically during app setup or update on supported devices. These downloads may depend on Apple, model providers such as Supertone Inc. or FluidAudio, repository hosts, infrastructure providers, or network availability.
Supertonic 3 is an on-device text-to-speech model from Supertone Inc. included with Narration Room for English, French, and German narration on supported Mac app builds. Use of Supertonic 3, derivatives of that model, and outputs generated with it is subject to the BigScience Open RAIL-M License included with the model files and to these Terms. The license includes use-based restrictions, and you agree not to use Supertonic 3 or derivatives of it:
- in any way that violates applicable law or regulation,
- to exploit, harm, or attempt to exploit or harm minors,
- to generate or disseminate verifiably false information or content for the purpose of harming others,
- to generate or disseminate personal information that can be used to harm an individual,
- to generate or disseminate machine-generated content without an express and intelligible disclosure that the content is machine-generated,
- to defame, disparage, harass, impersonate, or attempt to impersonate others without consent,
- to clone, imitate, or present a person's voice without the rights, permissions, and consents required for that use,
- for fully automated decisions that adversely affect a person's legal rights or create or modify a binding obligation,
- for uses intended to discriminate against or harm people or groups based on social behavior, known or predicted personal characteristics, or legally protected characteristics,
- to exploit vulnerabilities of people based on age or social, physical, or mental characteristics in a way that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm,
- to provide medical advice or medical results interpretation,
- to generate or disseminate information for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration, or asylum processes, including predicting whether someone will commit fraud or crime.
You are accountable for outputs generated with Supertonic 3 and for how you use, publish, share, or distribute those outputs. These Supertonic 3 restrictions apply in addition to the responsible-use rules above.
We do not guarantee that every model, voice, download, provider, language, feature, or local processing path will remain available indefinitely.
12. Intellectual Property
Narration Room owns the app, website, branding, design, software, and related materials, except for third-party materials owned by their respective licensors. Your use of the service does not transfer ownership of those materials to you.
Some third-party components are provided under open-source licenses. Those license terms apply to the relevant components, and nothing in these Terms limits rights you receive under those open-source licenses.
Except for the limited license granted to you to use the service in accordance with these Terms, we reserve all rights not expressly granted.
13. Feedback
If you send suggestions, ideas, or feedback about Narration Room, you allow us to use that feedback to improve the app and related services without owing compensation.
14. Availability and Changes
We may update, improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app, website, local features, AI providers, audio providers, local models, local voices, speaker features, iCloud-related behavior, supported languages, model downloads, export options, or related services over time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, continuous feature support, or that all features, voices, models, providers, languages, or output formats will remain available indefinitely.
15. Online Components
Narration Room is local-first, but some components may involve online or platform services — such as the website, App Store distribution, Apple speech-recognition assets, iCloud sync, support forms, diagnostics Apple makes available to developers, downloads, or provider-backed services.
For these components, availability may be limited where reasonably needed to:
- address unlawful, harmful, or abusive use,
- protect security or reliability,
- comply with law or platform rules,
- respond to a provider, platform, or infrastructure outage.
You may stop using the service at any time.
16. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Narration Room is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We disclaim warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fully accurate.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages,
- we will not be liable for loss of profits, revenues, business, goodwill, data, content, transcripts, recordings, or use,
- our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of CHF 50 or the amount you paid to us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
18. Responsibility for Claims
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from:
- Your Content,
- your recording, transcription, syncing, sharing, export, or other use of the service,
- your unlawful or improper use of the service,
- your violation of these Terms,
- your violation of applicable law or the rights of a third party.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
20. Venue
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be brought in the competent courts of Geneva, unless applicable law requires a different venue.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we do, we will post the updated version and update the effective date. Continued use of the service after revised Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
